PELHAM, Alabama — The Pelham Planning Commission will
continue its discussion about a proposed rezoning of roughly
22 acres on Indian Lake Drive for a housing development during its meeting
on Jan. 9.

The Planning Commission will consider a plan to rezone 21.57 acres on Indian Lake Drive to R-G Residential Garden Home District
from its present zoning as A-1 Agricultural District.

The board will hold a pre-meeting in the conference room at
City Hall at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting starting at 7 p.m. in the
council chambers.

The Planning Commission held a public hearing on Dec. 12
to consider the proposed rezoning of the property where a Birmingham-area
developer has plans to create 62 single-family home lots. The board asked for
more information about the proposal, resulting in the discussion continuing at its next meeting, on Jan. 9.

Vestavia-based Harris Doyle Homes Inc. wants to develop
the home lots on the roughly 22 acres located just west of the intersection at Helena Road and Old Montgomery Highway.

The proposal’s applicant is Regions Bank, serving as
successor trustee of the Lois Huckaby Real Estate Trust, for the property at
3442 Indian Lake Drive in north Pelham, according to city documents.

The Planning Commission will give a recommendation to the Pelham City Council, which will decide at an upcoming meeting whether to approve the proposed rezoning.
